Hit-Run Crash: Long Island Woman Suffers Severe Injuries

A woman suffered serious injuries in a hit=and-run crash in a residential Long Island neighborhood.

It happened around 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, in Central Islip.

An 86-year-old woman was walking on the westbound shoulder of the roadway on West Suffolk Avenue when she was struck by a westbound motor vehicle, according to Suffolk County Police.

The vehicle, believed to be a gold-colored sedan, continued traveling westbound without stopping.

The woman, a resident of Central Islip, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries.
